Hitler and Religion and Anti-religious People

Blogs have to be carefully read. Many are no more than the rantings of disturbed and contrary people, and other Blogs are written by intelligent folks from a broad cross section of society. This second group of people have reasonable questions and honest opinions to offer. It is not all that difficult to discriminate. A Blog reader eventually finds a circle of writers that meet his or her standards. This circle of Bloggers offers thoughts and ideas of interest to the reader. A Blog tends to be a short essay of comments and/or opinions, and the reader is usually invited to comment in reply.

I've my own Blog circle. Many can be seen at the edge of this page. One of these has written a Blog that tries to convince the reader that Christians and Muslims have an equally bloody past and either religion is equally dangerous. I don't agree.

It is claimed that Hitler was a Christian and look what he did. As far as I know Hitler was not a Christian when he began his political career, but he may have been as a small child. Most children of that era were brought up in the Catholic Church.

The following link discusses this issue:

It seems to me that Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin and other unjust and brutal leaders were not involved in religion. If I am right, speculation as to the comparative war like nature of Christianity and Islam is a separate issue. During my lifetime Christianity has been a powerful influence for good. It has not been perfect. Various sectors of Christianity have gone astray from time to time, but generally Christianity has taught peaceful  and tolerant coexistence with all non-Christian human beings.  The same can not be said of Islam.
