Greed & Government

There are times that require rambling in print, or if you prefer, thinking out loud. This is one of those times.  America's government is more conflicted than it's ever been, ever. The people I talk to everyday are confused by our government's indecision. While it's good to know that I'm not the only moron in town, it's also very sad to realize that Americans are losing their famous over-confidence. Our educational and political intelligentsia whine and whimper about how awful America is, and many of our citizens believe it.  Well,  the old man rocking on the front porch says such talk is nonsense.

The nay-sayers insist that we need to re-think what our government is for. No we don't. That's just more nonsense. The form, structure and purpose of our government is clearly explained in our founding documents and there is no reason whatever to change them. What we need to do is erase almost all of the stuff we've ADDED over the years.

Of course it is not enough to say that OUR GOVERNMENT IS TO PROTECT OUR CITIZENS AND PROPERTIES. It's high minded and sounds good but it doesn't fly. There are many other aspects of a republic that common sense indicates are best handled by a NATIONAL GOVERNMENT. Conservatives and Libertarians have trouble deciding exactly what these other NATIONAL responsibilities are. 

LIBERALS WANT THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT TO HANDLE EVERY ASPECT OF OUR LIVES

CONSERVATIVES WANT THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT TO HANDLE VERY FEW.

LIBERTARIANS WANT THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT TO HANDLE ALMOST NOTHING.

Human beings are motivated by GREED. It is the element of every government that strives to change anything. Our American government has let it go unchecked and out of control for years. The result is the Obama Administration. Liberals originally welcomed the changes promised by the liberal Democratic candidate. He followed an unpopular (and less liberal) Republican administration. The economy was in trouble, there were two controversial wars being waged, and the preceding administration had made too many significant errors. Despite a their poor record, the Republicans almost won - but close only counts in horseshoes. With the narrowest of margins, Mr. Obama and the Liberal Democrats prevailed.

A year and a half has gone by. The (Ultra-Left) Liberal Obama Administration has failed by any standard of measurement, to initiate even one program of merit. Instead, the Obama administration has performed badly in every arena, with every activity, every program, and every other administrative effort.

The size of our government has been expanded, the deficit has rocketed to the stratosphere, America's reputation has been diminished around the world, and our Federal Government has been redirected toward unsustainable socialism. Because of Mr. Obama, his administration, his faulty sense of management, his rejection of American history and  heritage, and his refusal to listen to the wishes and desires of American citizens . . . .because of Mr. Obama our nation is on the road to failure. The real concern now is whether or not Mr. Obama's influence  is irreversible.
