DESTROYING OUR HERITAGE
America's Constitution is being attacked by people who should know better. It's provisions were drawn in clear and precise language. The meaning of that language is as valid today as when it was written. Only minor adjustments have been necessary over the years, and overall, the document remains the core of our political system.
Changing the Constitution. A few clever lawyers have discovered that they can change the Constitution by twisting it's words. They began to use semantics to obtain support for their private agenda. The resistance to their efforts is substantial, but regardless, they continue to insist that the Constitution was meant to be a flexible document that changed with the times. Their understanding is simply not true.
The Founding Fathers never intended for the Constitution to be so flexible, yet, by trickery and distortion, many elected and appointed members of our government keep insisting that the meaning of the Constitution is different today compared to when it was originally drawn. This is definitely wrong. Nothing is further from the truth.
Here, for example, is a short list of what our Congress can NOT do:
CONGRESS HAS NO AUTHORITY TO TAX AND SPEND FOR:
public education / farm subsidies / prescription drugs
social security / bank bailouts / food stamps
state highway speed limits / wheel chair ramps
how much water can be used to flush a toilet
CONSTITUTIONAL POWERS GRANTED
TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ARE
ACTUALLY VERY FEW IN NUMBER:
legislative power / collect appropriate taxes / conduct foreign affairs
secure limited rights for inventors and authors / common defense
declaration of wars / negotiate for peace / regulate foreign commerce
establish post offices and post roads

THE 10TH AMENDMENT:
THE POWERS NOT DELEGATED TO THE UNITED STATES BY THE CONSTITUTION, NOR PROHIBITED BY IT TO THE STATES, ARE RESERVED TO THE STATES RESPECTIVELY, OR TO THE PEOPLE.
