When she arrived on the scene I, like so many others, made an instant assessment. Sarah Palin just didn't appear to have the moxie and horsepower for national politics. Since then a lot of water has gone under the bridge. Sarah turned out to be a pretty good second banana to John McCain. While they did lose the election it is important to realize that something like 60,000,000 people voted for them. That's not so bad at all.
Once chosen as a running mate, Sarah had to come up to speed very quickly and under the circumstances she did great. Sure she stumbled with the Katie Curic interview. Katie is very biased ultra liberal who put on her fangs before Sarah sat down. What followed was the first and last time Sarah was clobbered by anybody in the press. She was criticized and presented as a dumbo by many other liberal commentators, but never was she overwhelmed or caught speechless. Her backbone was upright and strong.
Once the campaign was over and the dust settled, my take on Sarah Palin changed 180 degrees. She may be too pretty, too young and have a squeaky voice . . but listening to her is a pleasure. Her political views echo mine and she's tougher than she looks. I think Sarah Palin is just the kind of person we need in Washington. She's different. She's honest. She's respectful of different opinions. She listens well. She's much smarter than I first thought, and most important, she is firmly grounded by our founding documents and her own common sense.
I'll vote for her anytime for any position in our government.
